praise to the mixes!

Funny little story: The other day I was at a family members house with my team. This was on Thanksgiving. Which was actually my birthday. So I spent the day at their house running dogs for a bit. (because friends and family wanted to see the team in action). I had my team all ready and my Uncle wanted to have his Alaskan Malamute get put into the team. So I got out a VERY LARGE harness, put it on the dog, and put it in wheel position. Now, this dog weighs about twice as much as any of my other dogs, and is very sweet. Once we started to get going, IT JUST SAT.

On the other hand, Arcgrace (who is on these boards) has a rescued black lab that is on her team. It has one of the biggest drives and heart I have ever seen on a dog. It thinks it is a husky!

Moral of the Story: just because a dog is of northern breed, doesn't mean it is going to be an automatic professional sled dog!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, dog harness in one hand, duct tape in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming...“Wow---what a ride”

LOL awww, it just sat? Poor, probably didn't know what was going on LOL. That's a funny story. Huskies are born ready to pull, just gotta give them something to pull and if they sit around most of their lives they don't wanna pull then unless you make it look like a lot of fun heh.

LOL - once you transfer that stuborness into a pulling drive, you'll have an excellent sled dog! One of my mentors has a lab mix like Juneau on her competitive racing team!

That's an adorable picture Mel haha so cute. The other dogs look like they gotta go gotta go, what's the hold up

I think one of Lance Mackey's dog was part lab or something? An accident that made into the team, ha pretty cool.
